1. Purpose
This protocol outlines the procedures for conducting PLNTmatter’s annual sustainability-related risk assessment. The goal is to ensure that emerging environmental, social, and operational risks are identified, measured, and addressed through data-informed strategies and cross-functional collaboration.
2. Scope
The risk assessment applies to:

All materials and feedstock used in fiber production

Manufacturing processes and associated environmental impacts

Social and human rights risks in the value chain

Regulatory and reputational risk related to product claims and sourcing practices
3. Methodology Overview
The risk assessment process combines:

Internal monitoring (supply chain, manufacturing, impact KPIs)

Third-party assessments (e.g., BCOME LCA, certification audits)

Stakeholder input (farmers, factory managers, NGOs, customers)

Global frameworks (REACH, ZDHC, Just Transition, SDGs)
Risk categories are scored using qualitative and quantitative data and ranked as High, Medium, or Low. Supporting documentation includes:

4. Risk Review Process
4.1 Annual Review Cycle
